· Microsoft Proxy Server versions 1.0, 2.0
IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

Workaround
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).
To work around this problem, do the following:
1. Verify that the following services are stopped:

2. Find and delete the following folders on the local hard disk, if they exist:

o Urlcache (this folder may exist on more than one partition)
o Winnt\System32\Msplogs
3. Find and delete the following file, if it exists:

4. Use Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) to delete the following registry keys, if they exist:
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IpFilterDriver
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mailalrt
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mspadmin
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3Pcache
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3Proxy
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSPSrv
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\W3Proxy
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Uninstall\Microsoft Proxy Server
5. Delete the following registry value(s)
O [email protected] (value for Proxy Server 1.0)
o [email protected] (value for Proxy Server 2.0)
o [email protected] (value for Proxy Server 2.0 installed on Windows 2000 server using the install wizard)
in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MS Setup (ACME)\Table Files
Note that some values may not exist, depending on what versions of Proxy Server have been installed on the server.
