IPTV App Freezing and Random Buffering Issue on Android TV After Recent Update – Anyone Else Facing This?
Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone else is currently experiencing serious performance issues with IPTV applications on Android TV or Fire TV devices recently. Over the last two weeks I’ve been testing different streaming apps and setups because my IPTV service suddenly started behaving strangely after what looked like an automatic app update.
Before this issue, everything worked smoothly for months. Channels loaded quickly, live sports streamed in HD without interruptions, and even VOD content played perfectly. But now I’m facing multiple problems almost every day, especially during evening hours.
The biggest issue is random freezing. The stream starts normally, but after 10–15 minutes the screen either turns black or the player buffers endlessly even though my internet connection remains stable. Sometimes audio continues while the video freezes completely. Other times the app closes itself and sends me back to the Android TV home screen.
I initially thought it was my internet provider, so I tested several things:
- Restarted router multiple times
- Switched from WiFi to Ethernet
- Cleared app cache and data
- Reinstalled IPTV player
- Tested on another device
- Reduced stream quality from 4K to HD
- Disabled VPN connection
- Updated Android TV firmware
Unfortunately, the issue still continues.
What confuses me most is that YouTube, Netflix, and other streaming apps work perfectly fine on the same network. The buffering problem seems to happen only with IPTV-related applications. I also noticed that some channels load instantly while others take almost 30 seconds before playing.
Another strange thing is memory usage. After opening the IPTV app for some time, Android TV becomes slower overall. Menus lag, remote response delays happen, and background apps start crashing. It almost feels like there’s some kind of memory leak or caching bug introduced in a recent version update.
I checked several forums and found mixed opinions. Some users say it may be related to DNS routing, others blame overloaded IPTV servers, while some think newer Android TV security updates are causing compatibility issues with certain streaming players.
While researching possible fixes, I also came across discussions around France-based streaming setups and services related to IPTV solutions for international channels and sports streaming. Some users mentioned platforms like https://ottpremium.tech/ while comparing app stability and stream performance across different IPTV environments, which made me curious whether the issue is player-related or provider-related.
One more important detail:
The problem becomes significantly worse during live football matches or high-traffic sports events. During normal hours the service is sometimes usable, but during peak traffic it becomes almost impossible to watch anything consistently.
So I wanted to ask the community:
- ¿Has anyone experienced similar IPTV freezing or buffering issues recently?
- Could this be related to Android TV updates?
- ¿Is there a recommended IPTV player currently more stable than others?
- ¿Would changing DNS actually help?
- ¿Are certain video codecs causing compatibility issues?
- ¿Could ISP throttling affect only IPTV traffic but not YouTube or Netflix?
I’D really appreciate hearing from people who have dealt with this before because I’ve spent days troubleshooting and still can’t identify the real cause. Maybe others are seeing the same thing after recent software updates.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or experiences.
