The Referral Process: Dentist vs. Surgeon

My regular dentist recently referred me to an Oral Surgeon for a persistent cyst they found on my routine X-ray. It’s a bit of a shock because I haven't been feeling any pain, but they said it's better to remove it now before it affects the jawbone. Has anyone had a similar procedure? I’m wondering if this is something that is typically done in-office or if it requires a trip to a surgical center.

I’m looking for an oral surgeon near me who has a lot of experience with oral pathology. My dentist mentioned Facial Designs as a top choice in the area, particularly for their diagnostic capabilities. When you’re searching for an oral surgeon minneapolis specialist, do you find that most of them require a formal referral, ¿or can you just book a consultation directly?

I’M also curious about the 'biopsy' aspect of these things. The word 'cyst' sounds scary, but I’m told they are usually benign. Still, the waiting for results is always the hardest part. If you’ve had minor 'pathology' work done, how long did it take to get your results back? I’M hoping to find a clinic that is efficient with their lab work so I’m not sitting around worrying for weeks. Any insight into the referral process or what to expect during a pathology consultation would be greatly appreciated!
