Como instalar ORACLE 8 en WINDOWS XP

He intentado instalar ORACLE 8 Personal Edition varias veces, y siempre con el mismo resultado. Si voy por el setup del principio me dice que no es una aplicación Win32 válida y si voy a instalarlo desde las carpetas en la mitad de la instalación da error de compatibilidad. ¿Qué puedo hacer?

Mira creo que ORACLE AUN NO HA SACADO LA VERSION ORACLE PERSONAL EDITION PARA XP, solo al hacer la instalacion lo recibe parcialmente como tu bien lo dices. Mira el rotulo de tu CD y veras que no mensiona XP para nada.

Oracle Server Product Support - 32Bit

All editions of the Oracle9i database (Enterprise, Standard, Personal and
Client software) are supported with Windows XP Professional Edition, there
are no plans to support Windows XP Home Edition. Please note currently the
same CD is used for Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Oracle8i Database Server components on Windows XP.
Oracle Server Product Support - 64Bit

Oracle do not currently provide support for Windows XP Professional 64-Bit.
Customers wishing to evaluate Oracle on 64-Bit Windows can download the
following Beta product from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) :

Oracle is currently planning to provide support for 64Bit Windows as soon

Oracle personal Edition 8i no esta certificado para XP.
Oracle 8i version 8.1.7 si esta certficado para Windows 2000.
Oracle 9i Version 9.0.1 y el release mas actual 9.2 SI ESTA CERTIFICADO PARA XP.

Hola LUMOSA, quería darte las gracias aunque un poco tarde, ya que he estado con todo patas arriba, he tenido que al final desinstalar 23 pcs y volver atrás ya que el Oracle 8.1.7 no va en el XP pero si en el windows 2000. El jefe esta que trina ya que pasar 23 equipos de 98 a XP con sus respectivas licencias, imaginate.Ahora abrá que barajar o hacerle entender de que adquiera licencias para el 2000.
